Tightrope
It's a simple Thursday.
Setting the tone for everyone's day,
That's my job.
Slip on the mask
Of who I'm expected to be.
I try my best to walk the line;
Remain balanced,
Take my time
Carefully stepping
One foot in front of the other
Quietly,
So as not to disturb
You
or the children.
I use kind words
Watch my tone,
Convey confidence -gently;
I mustn't be too rough.
While meal Planning
I feed the dogs,
And make snacks,
And dry tears.
Inevitably I slip,
Losing my balance
One foot falls and I yell,
I'm not being heard or seen.
Quickly regain my composure,
Apologize for being human.
Now-
Back to meal planning.
